Teaching
My teaching career has included undergraduate, graduate and adult education in a variety of settings as well as a strong commitment to student mentorship. This experience started as a graduate student at Rice University while heading laboratory sections associated with introductory physics classes. More recently, I’ve had the privilege of teaching the several semesters of the popular Astronomy 10 course at U.C. Berkeley and an introductory planetary astronomy course at the University of San Francisco. As part of my education commitment to the National Science Foundation’s Astronomy & Astrophysics Fellowship, I’ve also participated in the Prison University Project at San Quentin State Prison located just outside of San Francisco.
While teaching Astronomy 10, I created a class “blog” that hosted all relevant class material including podcasts of my lectures, and copies of my lecture slides and homework assignmentsI would routinely use this site to post articles about celestial events or link to press releases of recently announced research throughout the semester.
